Senpai Andrew

Graded to Nidan in November 17

I began my martial arts training with Shiryodo Karate back in 2006, and achieved my Shodan black belt during the first Shiryodo Karate black belt promotion in 2010, and now after a few years absence I’m back, and for good!

Martial Arts is a journey, and a very personal one at that, each individual person will experience it differently, for me it rests in Kata, it brings me peace and clarity where the stresses of life outside fades away.

As someone who will always assist during, before and after classes, if you’re ever struggling, I invite you to come stay hello.

Senpai Emma

Graded to Shodan May 2015.

I have been training since 2010. I originally joined Shiryodo for fitness and to learn something new and while these are still very important aspects of my training it is the people at the dojo, the sense of achievement  and the supportive atmosphere that keep me coming back.

My favourite part of training is that ‘aha’ moment you get when a combination or technique you have been working on finally falls into place. I never would have imagined that I would get as far as I have and I love that I now get the opportunity to share this experience and help others achieve their own ‘aha’ moments.
